Located in Burlington, Ontario (just outside of Toronto), Edge Imaging is a school photographer with the highest standards for quality and customer service. Although they’ve only been in business for about 5 years, Edge Imaging has quickly risen to the top of their industry, achieving a 98% customer satisfaction rate and photographing 1 in 3 school children in Ontario.
Edge Imaging decided to make the transition to digital after observing the drastic changes the photo industry was undergoing, with the demise of silver halide and the rise of dry printing. They spent about 2 years researching the various options, including digital presses from all the major manufacturers. However, these options were quickly ruled out due to prohibitive pricing and high costs of operation.
The Meteor DP60 Pro was an ideal solution for Edge Imaging because of its versatility. Among other photo applications, a primary focus for their digital solution was school ID cards, which is one of their major revenue streams. They produce over one million ID cards during their busy season, which runs from August to December, so dependability and uptime is a key. Thanks to the on-demand print capabilities of the Meteor DP60 Pro, Edge Imaging was able to decrease their turnaround time for ID cards by 50%. In addition to being extremely reliable, the Meteor DP60 Pro allows Edge Imaging to print their cards on synthetic substrates such as Teslin, and then easily switch over to printing panoramic photos or school photo envelopes.
Other attributes that Edge Imaging appreciates are the ease of maintenance and installation, along with the no click charge format and economical consumable pricing. The output quality is also excellent and suitable to be used for proofing.
